The Jerome Keane House
Historic Landscaping:
Dwyer Estate Wall
The Keane House was built on lots 5 and 6 from the original Dwyer Estate. Deeded to Mrs. Keane from her father Mr. John Dwyer, architect Hugh T. Keyes incorporated the brick and design of the existing west and south wall into the house and north wall design. Many of Keyes original designs found in Grosse Pointe included a brick wall as part of the property designs (e.g. 25 Fisher Rd, 5 Woodland Place). This wall exists in much of its original state today.
Historic Landscaping:
Backyard Alley
Though the original elm and fruit trees are no longer on the property, suitable replacements have been carefully selected to maintain the historic integrity. There are many original evergreens present, including thoses in the backyard alley as it were originally designed. Ending into a 25-foot diameter koi pond, this beautiful garden looks much like it did when the Keane and the Maxons were in residence.
